Since fish like having places to hide and swill around, little things like a piece of driftwood or mangrove can be a very attractive addition. Plants are also a wonderful addition to your aquarium, and live aquarium plants are even better as some fish prefer to lay eggs in them. They can also help act as a filter to balance the toxicity levels in the tank. You need to be careful however of issues involved with artificial light in your tank.
Since many tropical fish live in and near coral, this too is a good choice for the tank. Shells can also be used, but keep those to salt water tanks for safety.
There are also a whole array of plastic submarines, skeletons, treasure chests, sunken ships that not only give your fish places to hide, but also help hide things like filters, oxygen tubes, etc.
Experiment a bit, but always check with an aquarium expert to make sure your fish are never in danger. |
