Mechanical Aquarium Filtration
Jun 26

Big aquarium tankWell, now those are aquarium tanks. Imaginge keeping that sucker clean. No, I am talking about the aquarium tank in your home. Probably the most important task that you will have to do is to keep it clean and well maintained.

Out in the ocean, Mother Nature can do a pretty decent job keeping all of the aquatic life in balance, but the aquarium in your home is a closed system. Only you can take care of it, and the number one thing you can be careful of is how much you feed your fish. Over feeding is the number one cause of water problems in the tank. Whatever is not eaten by your fish begins to decompose and change the natural balance of chemicals. Add to that all of the waste products from your fish, and if not kept up with…bam…Big problem.

Check your filters and make sure you change any components that might be too dirty to function with. Whatever you do, don’t change all of the water at the same time. If you do that, your fish will not be happy campers. Too much change in their enviroment. Only change half the water at a time.

Just remember that aquarium tanks need regular maintenance to keep your fish healthy and happy.
