"Angelfish - What Color is Right For You?"

Angelfish are probably the most attractive addition to any aquarium. Of all the types of angelfish, the P. Scalare is about the most common and popular of the species. Because of their popularity, they have been cross-bred, and as a result, there are many unusual and beautiful strains available.

The Sunset Blushing is a strain that is characterized by an orange tint on the upper half of the fish's body. The rest of the fish is white with clear fins. Although this is the norm, some fish can have a pinkish or tangerine color to their bodies.

If a very light angelfish is desired, the Albino can fit the bill. This fish has no dark pigments, although some fish such as the Albino Marble have a slight hint of black on their body. The eyes are pink as they are in most albino animals.

One of the hardiest and most attractive strains

of angelfish has got to be the Gold Angelfish. Some of these fish develop an intense orange crown. The Silver Angelfish is also known as the wild angelfish. The silver color is a result of the fact that the fish doesn't have any dominant color genes. This makes it appear to have a silver body with four pronounced black stripes which change depending on the mood of the fish. For instance, during breeding time they become darker and lighten up when the fish is under stress.

Finally there is the Black Lace Angelfish. This variety is considered to be one of the most attractive ones because of the black lacing in its fins.
